Annie's "FEAR" Page
Yes
it is fall and that time of
year. Halloween will be here soon.
And you will have to decide whether you celebrate that
day or not. BUT irregardless of that FEAR is often
associated with this night.
I
know that what helps me when I am afraid of something is
to quote a Bible verse. The one that I use is: "What
time I am afraid, I will trust in thee." from the
Psalm 56:3. Personally one of my fears is BIRDS. And it stems from
the Hitchcock movie of the same name!!!
Do
you ever sometimes feel afraid?
What are you afraid of?
Spiders? Snakes? Fire? People? Going out of the house?
How about BIRDS?
Now we even have terrorism and anthrax to worry about.
Let alone Smallpox!
How do you deal with fear? Is worry really fear too?
"The fear of man
bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust
in the LORD shall be safe."
~Proverbs 29:25~
Everyone
is afraid of something whether they admit it or not!
Yes, even Christians have fears. FEAR is FEAR!!!
But
I guess the next question would be:
How do Christian's deal with FEAR?
Is it different then the WORLD as a WHOLE?
You
are not alone. Even Christian's can be afraid from time
to time. Some Christian's even deal with Panic Attacks
and Agoraphobia.
Now please realize that this is a page about FEAR. I am
not undermining people who have real physical health
problems with fear and anxiety. I know personally that
chronic health problems don't mean that you are not a
Christian or walking with the Lord. God uses us all as
Christians. Some of us go through things and use that to
help and encourage others who go through what we have
endured only by the GRACE of GOD!
"Blessed be God, even
the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of
mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who
comforteth us in
all our tribulation,
that we may be able to comfort
them which are in any trouble, by the
comfort
wherewith we ourselves are comforted
of God."
~2 Corinthians 1:3-4~
Worry
and Trust are both connected to FEAR. The opposite of
FEAR is PEACE and the ONLY PEACE that truly matters is
PEACE with GOD. Do you have that PEACE?
Do
all Christian's have PEACE? They can but not all
Christian's know how to move from FEAR into the PEACE
that only the LORD can give them.
"There is no fear
in love; but perfect love casteth out fear:
because fear
hath
torment. He that feareth
is not made perfect in love."
~1 John 4:18~
FEAR
is FEAR. WORRY is WORRY. Just like one would say that SIN
is SIN. Of course I am not connecting the three together
necessarily. What I mean is that fear of a spider is the
same as fear of flying. Big fears and little fears are
the same in the long run. Sin is separation from God.
Fear is not TRUSTING God. Are you TRUSTING the Lord in
ALL of your life?
It's ok to be afraid. Most everyone is at one time or
another. The big part and problem with fear is what we do
with it. We need to work through our fear and not be
paralyzed by it. We need to pray when we are afraid and
we need to have a plan for when FEAR comes over us
unexpectedly.
"For God hath not given
us the spirit of fear; but of power,
and of love, and of a sound
mind."
~2 Timothy 1:7~
How do you deal with FEAR in your life? Do you let it
paralyze you or do you walk on through the fear? One very
practical way to deal with FEAR is to PRAY. A prayer
doesn't have to be worded right or long to make a
difference. When you are afraid tell the Lord that you
are. Ask for His help. Quote Bible verses to change your
focus. Use one verse and memorize it ahead of time. Then
say it over and over again until the fear has passed. I
can't take your fear away but I can help you work through
it.
You
don't have to see things to be afraid them. Just as in
the same way you don't have to see God to know that He is
there. The Bible verse in Hebrews tells us that
"Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the
evidence of things not see." Our battle is not JUST
with things that we can see it is with the unseen world.
The battle is a spiritual battle. And like any battle we
need to have weapons and armor to protect us. The Bible is
known as the SWORD of the Lord. But you have to use the
weapon to have it work. If you don't memorize scripture
then you can't quote it when you need it. And it is the
Bible verses that you have memorized that will help you
when fear TRIES to overtake you.
"The Lord is my
shepherd I SHALL NOT FEAR......"
~Psalm 23:1~
But
big or small fear can and does make some people
physically ill. Some people have panic attacks or
agoraphobia. Some people eat when they are afraid or have
their special comfort food. We all have things that make
us feel better. It can be a bubble bath or a scented
candle. And it is ok to have some very real and practical
things to do to deal with fears in our lives.
Where
should our comfort or remedy for fear come from? The
answer is simple. The source of our PEACE and COMFORT
should not be other people but should be the Lord and His
word. God in the Bible tells us that He is "not the
author of confusion". God knows all the things that
scare us and He cares about EVERY detail of your life.
Big or small our fears are important to Him. We must
trust Him in ALL things not just the BIG things.
Psalm
139 tells us that He knew us
before we were even formed in our mother's womb. He knows
every hair on your head and He knows all the you will
endure. Yet He loves you enough to give you FREE WILL.
BUT he doesn't leave you without HOPE or a HOW TO MANUAL.
That "How to Book" is the BIBLE. BUT you have to
read it to know what it says. Through out the Bible it
tells us what NOT to do but did you know that God's word
is BALANCED! Every time it tells you what not to do it
tells you what to do.
For example:
"And BE NOT drunk
with wine, wherein is excess;
BUT BE filled with the Spirit."
~Ephesians 5:18~
If
you notice also almost every time that an ANGEL appears
in the Bible they
seem to know that people might be AFRAID and they address
that by saying
"BE
NOT AFRAID". I don't know about
you but I have always wanted to see on of God's
magnificent Angels in all their power and might.
OK back to my point FEAR. You don't have to be AFRAID or
FEARFUL anymore. Let's look at some really PRACTICAL
things that you can do to deal with your fear and the
fear of others.
FIRST
--- Never make fun of anyone else's fear.
2) PRAY for others with FEAR and PRAY for your OWN FEAR.
That can be one of those INSTANT emergency prayers like:
"Help me Lord I can't do this alone"
3) MEMORIZE SCRIPTURE and QUOTE it out loud.
4) Have a plan that works for you.
What does the Bible say
about FEAR?
There are 385 Bible verses with the word FEAR in them.
There are 189 Bible verses with the word AFRAID in them.
There are 54 Bible verse with "Be
NOT Afraid" in them.

If
you are not a Christian then there should be lots of
things that you might be afraid of. Like where you will
spend all of eternity or if we are right about God then
where does that leave you.
