Daylight Saving Time
(DST), time observed when clocks and other timepieces are set ahead, usually by 1 hr,
so that the sun will rise and set later in the day as measured by civil time. DST
conserves lighting power and provides more usable daylight hours for afternoon and
evening activities. First adopted during World War I by the U.S. and other countries,
DST in the U.S. currently extends from the first Sunday in April to the last Sunday in
October. NOTE: In
2007 Daylight Saving Time was changed and now lasts much longer!

First Day of Passover (Pesach), The Feast of the Passover, also called the Feast of
Unleavened Bread, commemorates the escape of the Jews from Egypt. As the Jews fled
they ate unleavened bread, and from that time the Jews have allowed no leavening in the
houses during Passover, bread being replaced by matzoh.

Easter Sunday, --- Observed in all Christian churches, Easter commemorates the
Resurrection of Jesus. It is celebrated on the first Sunday after the full moon which
occurs on or next after March 21 and is therefore celebrated between March 22 and
April 25 inclusive. This date was fixed by the Council of Nicaea in c.e. 325. The
Orthodox Church celebrates Easter (Paschal) on April 19.

Each April 22, Earth Day is observed to increase public awareness of environmental
problems. Many people believe that protecting the earth and its resources will be one of
the most important issues in the 21st century.

Professional Secretaries Day was established in 1952 at the suggestion of Professional
Secretaries International to recognize secretaries. Today, the occasion has grown to
include recognition of the efforts of other office professionals and even co-workers.
