Annie's "Be Prepared" Page
~A Christian Perspective regarding Y2K and Natural Disasters~

"Strength and honor are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come."

"She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet."

~From Proverbs 31~

OK Here is what it is. Y2K literally is Year 2 Thousand. Now when the old computers were built they tried to save money and used two digits for the years and not the 4 number dates. So when the year is 2,000 and we use 00 all the computers will think it is 1900. NOW we know that technicians can change and fix the computer problems. As of 5/99 it appears that in the United States the problems will be resolved prior to 1/1/00, BUT we don't know for certain. Not all the countries and computers may be corrected but no one knows for certain exactly what will happen. We should certainly consider what might happen if we loose power for a few days. There are many items and companies that depend on the computer. We depend on the computer every day. I am not saying that we need to PANIC or run for the hills. This page will hopefully help you to consider what the future may hold and then make wise and discerning decision for your own family.

We need to also remember that "Hurricanes and Tornadoes" come every year. Whether or not Y2K is a problem you still need to choose how you will plan for the future. Do you have your supplies ready? Do you have batteries if the power goes out? Y2K is not the only reason to plan ahead or to have some supplies on hand. PANIC won't help you or the situation. Wishing it to change isn't going to work either. FEAR is not what the Lord wants to rule our lives.

"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear;
but of power, and of love and of a sound mind."
~2 Timothy 1:7 KJV~

We don't need to use the wishing well or hopes and dreams to get us through what MIGHT be ahead for us. We may actually need the well for water. But seriously ...... What is your HOPE in? What are you putting your trust in? Do you know for certain what tomorrow will bring?

"Teach me thy way, oh Lord; I will walk in thy truth, unite my heart to fear thy Name. I will praise thee, O Lord my God, with all my heart: and I will glorify thy name for evermore." ~Psalm 86:11-12 KJV~

Are you a Christian?
Are you saved by the Blood of Jesus Christ our Savior?
Do you know for certain that you will go to Heaven when you die?

There is only one thing that you need for SURE to
SURVIVE anything that tomorrow or the year 2,000
has to offer. You won't want to forget to add this
important item to the top of your SURVIVAL and PREPAREDNESS list. Y2K or any disaster could
cause many to have fear, worry and concern. I would
like for you to let me give you something that will
help you with fear and uncertainty. It is FREE.
It is the most important item that I can give you
and the only one you really need.

Isn't it lovely? You don't have to worry about getting it authenticated or certified. It doesn't need to be stored in a fire proof safe or be kept at room temperature or refrigerated.

What I want to give you is "Salvation". It is a FREE gift from God. "For by GRACE are you saved through faith, it is a gift of God not of works lest any man should boast" Ephesians 2:8-9. Here is a link to "The Four Spiritual Laws" part of Campus Crusade for Christ. Their page and site will follow up on your decision if you become a Christian and they have wonderful resources. You can also click here and read my personal testimony at "Annie's Testimony Page".

If you click on the present you can find out how to become a Christian.

All the stockpiled supplies in the world won't matter if you spend eternity in hell. Don't put it off......you don't know what tomorrow may bring. Do you know what you would say if you died tomorrow and got to heaven and they asked you "Why should we let you in?". Believe me a long laundry list of all the good things you did isn't enough. Because nothing of your own merit will get you to heaven.....the only way is by accepting Jesus Christ as your Savior, by faith.

So while you decide if you will plan and prepare for the Y2K potential crisis, take a few moments to really look at your heart. I have often heard said that it only takes 12 inches to make a big difference in your life. That difference is the "Head" knowledge and your "Heart". Do you have Jesus in your heart?

"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst ofo the sea;" ~Psalm 46:1-2 KJV~

We have just come through "El Nino" and are in the midst of "Tornado" and "Hurricane" seasons. We have the impact of "La Nina" to still come. This summer many people have gone to bed and woken up with there homes being destroyed by "Acts of God", or "Natural Disaster" as the Insurance companies call them. We need to be preparing for the disasters that we KNOW are coming too. When you are prepared it does give you a sense of comfort and protection. But most people are still afraid of Hurricanes and Tornadoes.

If you are a Christian you have the PEACE that PASSETH ALL UNDERSTANDING. You can handle anything because you are never alone. The Lord promised to never leave you or forsake you.

But maybe you have "accepted" the Lord as your savior, and maybe you are the not allowing the Lord to really be the "Lord of your life". You really haven't TRUSTED that the Lord knows what is best for you. You have tried to plan your own life and then say "Lord please bless it".

The time is too short. You need to decide this moment who you will serve. Will you serve your passions and desires? Or will you serve a risen Savior? Is the Lord everything to you? You can live in victory or in defeat. It is up to you. But please know that you have been given the opportunity and if you choose to reject Him you will now be accountable for your own actions.

You can't blame others now. It is up to you!

Every person will make an account to the Lord God for our lives and actions. We as Christians have to deal with sin in our lives. It will hinder our relationship with the Lord. Remember that "sin is sin".  Big or small.  Gluttony, gossip, lying...murder or adultery. Now... yes there is a passage that tells about the woman caught in adultery and Jesus says to the accusers "he who is without sin cast the first stone"..........But don't forget what 1 John 4: 7-8 says. This passage is written to believers.  We know that we are not perfect and that even if we TRY our best we will fall short.  So we shouldn't beat ourselves up over it.  Repentance is essential and critical. We trust the Lord and do our best BUT we will make mistakes. These verses are so very important.

"If we confess our sins He is faithful and
just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse
us from all unrighteousness."
~~1 John 4: 7-8~~

This is not an excuse for Christians to not be sold out to the Lord. This is not a way to just sin and live your life the way YOU WANT TO. We daily need to come to the Lord and ask for forgiveness.

Be in the Bible daily and "pray without ceasing".

Remember that "Our God is an Awesome God........He reigns from Heaven above.....Our God is an Awesome God.

We serve a risen savior!!!

He is coming back the way that He left.

Will you be found faithful, ready and watching?

I hope that I will see you in Heaven and that we can spend eternity together.

What should we as Christians do?

Be in Prayer: We are to "pray without ceasing".

Be Prepared: "to whom much is given much is required." and "What doth the Lord thy God require of thee, but to do justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with thy God".

Be Educated: Read all you can find about the Y2K

Have a Daily Quiet Time: Be in the Word of God Daily & Memorize scriptures

Use this opportunity to share Salvation with others:

There is a verse that seems very relevant:
"To whom much is given much is required."

Lets also remember the story of the Good Samaritan.........

"Therefore as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience." ~Colossians 3:12 NIV~

Here is another question for your to ponder......

Why aren't you AFRAID of what will happen?

"Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the Most High thy habitation...there shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh your dwelling. For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all they ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone."
~Psalm 91:9-12~

Well as Christians we believe that the Bible is the Inspired Word of God.
The Bible says alot about FEAR.

"O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him. O fear the LORD, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him. The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing." Psalm 34:8-10

Here is one verse to memorize and repeat when you are afraid:
"What time I am afraid I will trust in thee." ~Psalm 56:3~

We need to be Spiritually, Physically and Emotionally ready for any disaster.

In Proverbs 6:6-8, the ant is commended for anticipating winter and making appropriate preparations: "Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest."

Now I don't want you to think I am an alarmist. What I want you to take away from this page is threefold. First if you are not a Christian then to give you that opportunity to change your life. Second if you are a Christian then to give you an opportunity to give your life over to the Lord. You can trust the Lord and have faith that He knows what is best for you. He loves you unconditionally. He will never leave you or forsake you. And finally the third thing would be that you pray and seek the Lord about what you should do regarding the Y2K situation.

Who can separate us from the Love of God?

"Who shall separate us from the Love of Christ?  Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?" ... "NO, in all these things we are more than conquerors THROUGH HIM who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future , nor ANY powers, neither height nor depth nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
~Romans 8:35-39~

"I know whom I have believed an am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I committed unto him against that day."
~2 Timothy 1:12~

"A prudent man sees danger and takes refuge, but the simple keep going and suffer for it."
~Proverbs 23:3~

Now if we look at the Y2K situation and plan now to be prepared we won't need to worry. BUT I am not going to tell you what you should do. You need to seek the Lord about it and Listen to His still small voice. Each person will have to weigh the consequences of planning and not planning. Then they can decide how they will care for themselves and their family.

Bible Verse: Philippians 4:9-14 "Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you. But I rejoiced in the LORD greatly, that now at the last your care of me hath flourished again; wherein ye were also careful, but ye lacked opportunity. Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. Notwithstanding ye have well done, that ye did communicate with my affliction."

abased (made low)
abound (be prosperous)
communicate (help)
affliction (troubles)

Annie's Thoughts:

"Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned,
in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content."
~Philippians 4:11~

Just even starting to read the verses makes me stop to ponder.  Can I REALLY say "NOT that I speak in respect of WANT"?

"WANT" doesn't just imply THINGS.  "WANT" is being unsatisfied. "WANT" is also like second guessing God.

It always seems to come back to this:  Do I REALLY trust the LORD GOD?  Can I do a better job?  There is absolutely NO compromise.  God doesn't say "OK Annie I think we can negotiate or discuss this.  OR Annie, you just MIGHT have a better way of doing things."

How unworthy I am to even think that I know better than the Lord what is good for me.  God never promised it would be EASY.  God never said I would not go through trials, troubles, tribulations and more.  He does promise that He loves me and will discipline me like a father.  He will refine me like GOLD.  He will never leave me or never forsake me.  I am NEVER alone.

Yes some days I do WANT.  I often use to think that it was the unknown that bothered me the most......now I think that the known can be just as bad.

And yet I am so blessed to have been born in a country where I can still worship in the way I choose.  We are not having persecution of Christians or famine in our country.

But often our little problems become so overwhelming and we become so introspective that we are not able to help ourselves or let alone others.

We are like the prophet under the tree.  Hungry and spent.  Tired and overwhelmed.........but remember the angels came and fed him and cared for him.

The next part of the verse "Not that I speak in respect of want" says this "for I have LEARNED in whatsoever state I am therewith to be CONTENT."

NOW we go from "WANTING" to "LEARNING" to being "CONTENT".  So from this I see that it is not an EASY thing to do.  And that even like Peter it may take me THREE times and I may still not get it right.  BUT I have the assurance that the Lord loves me and His love is unconditional.

He sees my faults and my past and yet He STILL loves me.  He will never leave me.  People will leave and will disappoint you.  BUT remember that the Lord never will.  The Lord does want us to be honest with Him.  The Lord wants us to TRUST Him.

So........."when I am weak then He is strong."

Have a day today FULL of LEARNING to be CONTENT.

There are the 78 verses with "Prepare" in the Bible
There are 99 verses with
"Prepared" in the Bible

NO one can promise you tomorrow........... so live as if this were your last day. Don't have any regrets.
Remember you can't hitch a U-Haul to the hearse !!!

Have you ever read that passage in the scriptures about the 10 Virgins? This situation, of course reminds me of the 10 Virgins. They were all Virgins. So this is passage is not about the saved and unsaved. They all watched and waited and slept while they waited for the Bridegroom. Now 5 were prepared and 5 were not. 5 had not only the lamps but they had oil for the lamps. The other 5 has lamps and no oil. So the lamps would not work. The Virgins waited. Five were prepared and ready. When it was time the 5 Virgins had oil for their lamps. They were prepared. But the other 5 virgins had not planned ahead. They asked the other virgins if they would share their oil. But they wouldn't. They told them to go and buy some. And when they returned they were too late to go with the Bridegroom. Will you have OIL in you lamp? Will you be prepared?

Are you prepared?

Do you have oil for your lamp?

Time is running out..............

Is your house a home?
Is Christ at the center of your home?
Is your home a refuge from the world?

We live in a place in time that our Great Grandparents could not fathom or understand. Computers bring the world to our fingertips. The Depression in the 1930's is almost unimaginable to the people living near the end of this millennium.

The Lord never promises us more then today ~ yet we as Christians need to be wise and discerning. All through the scriptures the Lord has lessons of how we need to be prepared. Full of anticipation of the Lord's return yet prepared for tribulations and troubles. We are not suppose to plan so much that we plan the Lord right out of our plans.

We are called to live by FAITH. To TRUST that the Lord. He has us in the palm of His Hand. We may make the plans but "The Lord directs our steps". And these are not contradictions. Planning and Faith are almost synonymous. If we Trust the Lord and seek Him our steps and paths will be directed.

"But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great." Luke 6:49

"For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have [sufficient] to finish [it]? Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish [it], all that behold [it] begin to mock him, Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish." Luke 14:28-30

"Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand? Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an ambassage, and desireth conditions of peace." Luke 14:31-32

I do think that even if we just look at Y2K conservatively we still could see a domino effect. That might pose some minor problems.

We don't want to be "alarmist's", but we want to be found "faithful" and
"wise".   The more you look at the world and every thing that is happening you just have to reevaluate your whole end times position. We need to know what the BIBLE says and not what we "think" it says about the end times. If someone asked you what they can expect could you tell them? No one knows absolutely for certain exactly what will happen. BUT we do know for certain that the Lord WILL RETURN. With all that could and will happen in life, we need to be saying:
"Repent for the Kingdom of God is at hand".

........I thought that we would be raptured out of here before any tribulations or trials were to happen too.  Even before I knew about the Y2K thing. But I think that if you look at it this way it might help. Now there are a ton of LUKEWARM Christians. (Remember in Revelations that God HATES that) ........  They are all convinced that their position is the only one and that they are safe in their insulated Churches.  They don't see an urgency to share salvation with others or even to prepare for tribulation.  Because they CAN'T be wrong. But what if they are??? Satan must be happy because hardly any Christians even know what Y2K is. Remember that complacency and deception are the devil's greatest tools.

We really don't have to worry about the WORST CASE position. There will be some problems but not a WORLD CATASTROPHY. Now if you want to look at the WORST POSSIBLE scenario then you might consider Marshall law or just the National Guard to be on alert.

If the worst happens then we would need to be gathering and stock pileing food and other items like water.  If this happens then there would be:

No washing machine. No appliances or TV.
No computer
No telephone. No dishwasher. No water to shower or flush the toilet.
No Coffee Maker

AND if this happens it will be in the coldest part of the year.

As I think about the year 2,000 stuff and everything that we know could change it makes me rather pensive.  Some people won't even know what could happen. Some will want to prepare but not even have the resources to do so. Will the churches and Christians share their supplies with others? Maybe this is a wake up call. Maybe this is the time to change our focus and plan instead of just reacting.

"The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer. "
Proverbs 30:25

How should we be preparing?
This is something you need to prayerfully decide. It really probably won't be terrible. It could just be minor, but if we don't plan we may be sorry we didn't.

Is it time for you to start preparing?

Are you ready and prepared for the Lord's return and the Rapture?

Do you know the signs of the times?

Please visit my Annie's Groundhog Day Page that is subtitled "Do you know the sign of the times?"

Bible Verse: James 4:13-17 "Go to now, ye that say, Today or tomorrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that. But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil. Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin."

Remember in the Scriptures where Jesus tells us to look at the lilies in the field they are dressed in radiant beauty..........

"Don't worry or fret about tomorrow..........you have enough worries for today and tomorrow will take care of itself."

NOW........we as Christians are to be ready and watching for the Lord's return.

Are you ready for what tomorrow may bring?

Do you know where your IMPORTANT paperwork is?
Do you have amble supplies for a Hurricane?
Do you have a Disaster Supplies Kit?
Do you have an Emergency Preparedness Checklist?
Do you know where your local
"Red Cross" is?

We really do live in an INSTANT society. We don't even like to wait in an EXPRESS line. We have drive thru restaurants and now even drive thru drug stores. We don't have to wait for the evening news we can watch CNN 24 hour news channel. Maybe we need to ask ourselves where we are going in such a hurry.

I hope that this page and the information has helped you to decide when, if and how you will prepare.

On my other Y2K pages you will find some practical information and many links to Christian and Non Christian sites about the Y2K.

As always please be wise and discerning as you leave this page and visit the links. I do not necessarily agree with all the links.
Remember "Study to show thyself approved unto God a workman that needeth not to be ashamed."

Now as you leave this page please ponder these verses:

"I will instruct you and teach you in the way which thou shalt go
I will guide thee with mine eye."
~~Proverbs 3: 5-6~~

"In the fear of the Lord is strong confidence:
and his children shall have a place of refuge."
~Proverbs 14:26~
